Japanese hardware company Elecom has introduced what it claims is the world’s first power bank powered by a sodium-ion battery.

Unlike traditional lithium-ion batteries, this new battery type promises a significantly longer cycle life and the ability to function in extreme temperatures.

At first glance, the Elecom DE-C55L-9000 looks like a standard power bank. It features a compact, rounded brick design housing a 9,000-mAh battery.

The device includes a 45-W USB Type-C port, an 18-W Type-A port, and LED indicators for charging status. But the real innovation lies inside—the use of sodium-ion battery technology.
